Mr Kurt Wee was co-opted into ASME’s Executive Council in 2003 and was elected in the following term. In 2009, he was elected to serve as Vice President (Corporate Communications). He has also served as Vice President (Awards & Projects), overseeing ASME’s two flagship awards – The Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Singapore Prestige Brand Award. Mr Wee was President of the 23rd Executive Council from 2013 to 2015 and was consecutively re-elected as President for the following three terms – 24th Executive Council in 2015, 25th Executive Council in 2017 and 26th Executive Council in 2019.
His involvement in ASME over the past 18 years in various capabilities has given him substantial insights into the local and regional SME business scene. During this time, he has spoken on pertinent issues concerning SMEs and businesses, and championed the interests of SME tenants regarding fair tenancy. He also chairs the SME Committee at the Singapore Business Federation.
It is his firm belief that if SMEs band together, they can scale greater heights. He hopes to continue his service to the Association and be part of the team that leads ASME and its members forward.
The Association of Small & Medium Enterprises (ASME) is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1986 for entrepreneurs, by entrepreneurs. With wide-ranging services and programmes, ASME strives to equip member SMEs with the business knowledge and market opportunities to help them grow their businesses.
ASME, as the champion of a pro-enterprise Singapore, bridges the public and the private sectors to promote a more conducive business environment which facilitates the start-up, growth and development of a larger pool of SMEs. The two ASME flagship awards — The Entrepreneur of the Year Award and Singapore Prestige Brand Award are in recognition of SMEs’ successes.
